Marissa told us about her country, Canada. It’s very cold in autumn. People celebrate Thanksgiving on the first Monday in October. It’s snowing after Halloween. In winter, you can skate to work. Because the lake is frozen and the weather can go down to -20°. There’s so much snow. Marissa taught skiing in the winter when she was young. In spring, it’s maple syrup season. People love to make lollipops with ice and maple syrup. In the summer. There’s a contest for the best, biggest vegetable. It is usually warm. In July and August the temperature is between 25 and 35°. But the water stays cold. Canada Day is on the 1st of July. We talked about food with Marissa, specialities from Canada are beaver tails. Poutine. Butter tart. Meat pies. Nanaimo bars and of course maple syrup.

The main sports in Canada are curling, lacrosse, hockey. hockey, ringuette, basketball and Canadian football. Ringuette was created in 1936 for women because it doesn’t involve physical contact. Canadian football is the same sport as American football, but the name has just been changed. We were also shown pictures of famous monuments such as the Parliament of Canada. Chateau Laurier, which is a hotel, a war memorial and the Rideau Canal.
After this meeting, we all want to go to Canada !
